To All Our Friends and Fellow Laborers in the Lord's Work

It is with heavy hearts but divine comfort that I write to inform you of the homegoing of my father, the director of the FEA and editor of Foundation magazine, Dennis Costella. The Lord called him home to glory on October 24, 2011, when he was hit by a vehicle while out for his evening walk with his dog near his house in Clovis, California.

His departure has been a shock to all of us here but not to his Lord who called him home. We know and are confident that God is in control of all things, including our time, which is in His hands (Psa. 31:15a). Pastor Dennis was a man who loved the Lord, his family, and the ministry to which God had called him. He served faithfully until the very end. He will be greatly missed by his family as well as his brothers and sisters in Christ.

The homegoing of Pastor Dennis leaves large shoes to fill here at the FEA, but with the help of the Lord and the support of our dear fellow workers in Christ, we look forward to what God has in store for this ministry in the years ahead. When Pastor Reynolds went home to be with the Lord in 1997, my father rested in the fact that God’s work is about His glory, not about one particular person. We firmly believe that there is a cause, and the cause we are called to advance is this: preach the gospel, teach the Word, and contend for the faith—all for God’s glory. God has never failed us in 83 years, and we purpose to stay true to Him in the years ahead should He tarry. We are so thankful for the many avenues of ministry God has opened up for the purpose of teaching and encouraging the saints as well as declaring the gospel to the lost.

Just prior to this tragic accident, we were on the verge of publishing the third issue of Foundation magazine for the year 2011. The loss of Pastor Dennis has set our production time back quite a bit, and the fact that we need to complete the upcoming issue of Feature: A Daily Bible Study Guide prior to the end of November means we will be forced to combine the third and fourth issues of Foundation. Lord willing, this will be an expanded issue that will include special articles written about, as well as written by, Pastor Dennis. We certainly appreciate your patience as we finalize this upcoming issue of Foundation and the upcoming issue of Feature as well.

Also, we have several new leaflets available (which we will soon highlight on the website as well as in the upcoming issue of Foundation), and our second volume of Grounded: A Devotional Guide for Christian Youth is scheduled to be completed by the printer on November 9. In addition, we are resuming the “What Does the Bible Say?” broadcast on the Internet very soon, so please check www.feasite.org in the near future to listen to the latest broadcast.

We believe God has put the FEA here in this world for “such a time as this,” and with the continued support of God’s people we desire to run through the doors God has opened and will open yet future. Please read Colossians 1:9-14. We ask that these words of the apostle Paul be your prayer for us. Your prayer and financial support is vital to this ministry. We love and appreciate each of you and want to thank you for all your cards, calls, comfort, and encouragement you have offered to us at this time. Surely the Lord will be glorified through all that has happened. Join us in continuing to proclaim the truth to a dark world. Join us in exalting our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be all glory! Colossians 2:6-7.

Yours in Christ’s Service,

Matt Costella
